Meet Brigitte

I grew up just south of Chicago with two wonderful a parent and two older brothers. Raise Roman Catholic, I struggled with a works-based mentality, thinking I could earn and perform my way to God. I truly thought if I was smart ‘enough’, talented ‘enough’, fun ‘enough’, and good ‘enough’ I could earn both people’s and God’s love. My striving led to an abundance of anxiety as I simply could not be it all or do it all. My sophomore year at the University of Iowa (go Hawks!), I was invited to a college ministry called the ‘Salt Company’ and the gospel started to take root. As I continued to live a double lifestyle, I could no longer enjoy the college lifestyle I had adopted but wasn’t willing to give it up, and even still the Lord was patient. The following summer, amid an anxiety attack, I read Ephesians 2. By the help of the Holy Spirit, I understood for the first time, that my works did not save me, and I was in fact a child of wrath like the rest of mankind. But God being rich in mercy and abundant in his great love saved me – and that changed everything.

After completing graduate school, I moved to Madison, Wisconsin to help plant a church and work as a pediatric speech and language pathologist. God used these years to continually grow a deep love for Him, His church, and His people. Through a series of events that only God could orchestrate I started the Watermark Institute in August 2024. I never would have thought or imagined I would work for a church, but am deeply honored and excited to serve the bride of Christ as the Lord continually reminds me that it is by grace that I have been saved through faith, and it is not of my own doing, but it is the gift of God and not a result of works.
