Summary

It can be easy to see doubt as something that opposes faith, but in Mark 9 we see that doubt and faith are actually two sides of the same coin. What if our doubt was actually just an invitation to be more curious? Being able to acknowledge our doubts, bring them to Jesus, and be comfortable with the tension created there, is something God expects from us! Doubt is a part of the human experience, but it’s what you do with your doubt that determines your destination. So find peace in the doubt, knowing the savior of the world is waiting with open arms to all your questions.

Discussing and Applying the Sermon

  • Can you relate to the father in the story, expecting God to move but questioning if he ever will?
  • Could you say that God is still good even if life goes in a direction you wouldn’t have chosen? What has this looked like for you in the past, good or bad?
