Howdy! My name is Jena! Born and raised in Dallas and born and raised here in this church. I’m so thankful to have been able to call Watermark home for so long. It has been one of the greatest gifts to grow up and grow in my faith as I’ve been faithfully shepherded by this body and surrounded by authentic community.
I am one of four kids, oldest girl, second born, shortest of them all. Something that’s been impactful about my story is that I was born with Achrondroplasia, Dwarfism. Giving me a physical uniqueness that has brought many unique challenges. By God’s grace growing up in a home where both Mom and Dad were abiding followers of Christ they pointed me to Psalms 139:13-16. I had engraved these truths on my heart which helped me understand more fully that God had entrusted me with something good to use for his glory.
As I watched many faithful men and women in this body, my parents included, use their brokenness, sorrow, and momentary suffering as an opportunity to point people to Christ this grew my heart for ministry. I originally thought I’d pursue a degree in Fashion Merchandising I ended up studying Human Development of Family Science at Oklahoma State. Go Pokes! I loved college and I loved doing ministry with my friends on campus through KLIFE and Yada. After college I came home to Dallas worked in retail, began working as a stylist right when the Lord presented an opportunity to move to Conway Arkansas where I eventually spent four years as a Women’s Director for a discipleship ministry called KLIFE. Same ministry I served with in college. It was through my time in KLIFE working with college kids and high school students where my love for teaching God’s word and discipleship grew more and more leading me back to Watermark.
I am humbled to serve on our frontlines as the Watermark Dallas Campus Receptionist. I am passionate about serving all those that come in our doors, connecting those who call and helping our staff continue to be the hands and feet of Jesus! Although vocationally I’m working as Watermarks receptionist, I spend a great amount of time serving with women leading The Collective seeking to unite, inspire, equip, and unleash the women of Dallas. Let me tell ya, life is hard, following Jesus is worth it and it’s way more fun when you live life in the light and with His people!
