Anthony Cervera’s Bio
I grew up in Brownsville, Texas, and was raised by my grandparents from birth until I was 12 years old. My mom and dad had me when they were very young, but thankfully, I was blessed to have a relationship with both of them. After I turned 12, I began splitting time between them in San Antonio, Texas.
The true blessing, however, was being raised by my grandparents. Through their love and compassion, I came to know the Lord and grew up attending church. To this day, I believe that if it weren’t for their influence, I wouldn’t be the man I am today.
Although I was surrounded by faith growing up, I didn’t fully understand what it meant to walk with and be led by the Spirit until I attended Abilene Christian University. During my time there, I learned the importance of building a healthy community—and more importantly, trusting in the Lord and seeking Him above all things, rather than leaning on my own understanding.
Post-grad life hit me hard. I walked the stage without a job lined up, and the loss of in-person connection with my friends made the weight of the world feel even heavier. But God always has a plan. Thankfully, my aunt and uncle in Aledo, Texas, opened their home to me while I searched for jobs in the DFW area. During that time, I was showered with love, prayed over, and grew deeper in my faith. That season helped lift me out of a difficult place and prepared me for the new chapter I’m now stepping into.
The story of how I came to Watermark is a blessing in itself. I had been job hunting for over a month when my girlfriend’s brother, Tyler, suggested I apply to Watermark. For some reason, that idea had never crossed my mind. I looked up the available positions, and by the grace of God, there was one that suited my skill set. The very next day after applying, I heard back with an invitation to interview—and I knew then that this is where God wanted to use me and I am so excited to use those skills to serve others.
