Meet Lauren

I grew up in Dallas, Texas with two loving parents and twin brothers.
When I was 5 years old, I professed faith in Christ with my Mom after several gospel conversations about God’s love and grace. I was so amazed that the God of the universe could love me and go to such great lengths for my heart. In true childlike faith, I put my faith in Jesus. The Lord has been my keeper ever since (Psalm 121:5).

Over the years, many faithful women in the church and at Pine Cove camps invested in me and modeled joyful obedience to Christ. My middle school small group leader taught me how to read my Bible in 6th grade and I haven’t wanted to put it down since then. The Lord has used mentors in my life to shape me and help me to discern my identity in Christ. The Lord is continually teaching me that I am first and foremost His loved daughter and I can be free from the desire to seek man’s approval (Galatians 1:10).

I attended college in Birmingham, Alabama at Samford University where I studied Human Development and Family Sciences. My years at Samford were marked by a community of rich friendships, a deep love for God, and a lot of fun. It was at Samford where I met my sweet husband Dawson McGee. We started dating our freshman year after three months of him daily knocking on my dorm window to chat. On our first date, we made pancakes in my dorm kitchen and the rest is history!
All of my college summers were spent at Pine Cove Silverado where I fell in love with ministry, discipleship, and teaching God’s word. Camp is where I became fully convinced that I wanted to give away all of my days to ministry, with a willing and eager “Here am I, send me” heart posture to the Lord (Isaiah 6:8).

In God’s kindness, the door was opened for me to be a part of the Watermark Institute class of 2023, where I continued to deepen my love for God and His Word. As the Shoreline resident, I had a front row seat to watching students at Watermark be known and accepted, taught about Jesus, and challenged to grow. It is an honor to continue to stand behind this mission daily as a full time member of the Students team. I am so grateful to be a part of the ministry at this church and consider it pure joy to be a part of God’s Kingdom work here! (Matthew 13:44)
