Meet Rachael

I grew up in Allen, TX as the oldest daughter of four - I have two younger sisters and a youngest brother. Growing up I put a lot of pressure on myself to be a perfect older sister my siblings could look up to. In high school, I got good grades and graduated near the top of my class. I went on to pursue a tough computer science degree at Texas A&M, where I studied hard during the week and partied on the weekends. By my junior year, that lifestyle caught up with me in a very real and sobering way. I found myself at a personal low point — one that shook my self-image I "had it all together" and left me feeling a lot of guilt and shame.

After graduating in 2013, I moved back to Dallas to work for a large telecom company. A friend invited me to a young adult gathering called the Porch, and I remember the speaker shared about his past in such a raw and real way. He had freedom in Jesus Christ that allowed him to not hide or be ashamed of his past - and I wanted that too! I decided I no longer wanted to live my life striving to be this perfect person I desperately wanted to be, I made a pretty terrible god. Jesus met me at my worst, when I had nothing to offer, and forgave me. Now I’m growing to be motivated by that grace instead of my own prideful performance. What a gift!

I met my husband, David, in 2014 and together we got plugged into community at Watermark and have served in Starting Blocks, Moneywise, Merge, and most recently, the Coffee Frontlines team. In 2025, I left the corporate world when God unexpectedly led me to join staff on the IT team, using the very skills I had developed corporately. Outside of work you'll find me playing with our two kiddos, Evelyn and Oliver, or hosting and entertaining in our 1970s “forever-starter” home.
