What is one thing you wish you could have right now that you think would make you happier?

Read Philippians 4:10-13 - Read it aloud yourself, or ask someone who is a confident reader. Ask the others to listen carefully and follow along.

  1. Read Philippians 4:12, Paul says he has learned the secret of being content. Why is contentment a secret to most of the world?

  2. Why does the world tell you that you need more to be happy?

  3. Read Philippians 4:13. This verse is one of the most misused Bible verses in all of the scriptures. How is this verse used poorly?

  4. Philippians 4:13 is not about athletic success or personal achievement. What is it about? *Contentment in Christ no matter the circumstance.

  5. Paul says that he can “do all things through him who gives me strength.” What is the context of this verse? Observing the context, what does “all things” mean?

  6. How do you think Paul was able to say that he was content even while being chained in prison? How could we learn to be content in all things?

  7. Have you ever been through a situation where it was hard to remain content? How did you respond?

  8. When we struggle to be content, what are we saying about our view of God and our relationship with Him?

  9. What is an example of how you could use Philippians 4:13 in your life to help you in a difficult situation or circumstance?
