Before the Jordan River parted or the walls of Jericho fell, God gave Joshua a seemingly less miraculous command: To meditate on Scripture (Joshua 1:8). And did you know that some of the Apostle Paul’s final words to pen include an encouragement to know God’s Word (2 Timothy 3:16–17)? As Paul and Joshua understood, Scripture memory is a must if we are to know the heart of God, follow Him, and encourage others on the journey of faith.
So here’s the deal. Whether you have memorized the whole New Testament or haven’t memorized a single verse, jump in with us as we memorize Psalm 1 over the first 6 weeks of 2017. Because every journey is more enjoyable with friends, be sure to talk about this Psalm at your dinner table or as you tuck your kids into bed (Deuteronomy 6:7). Share what you are learning from your time meditating on this Psalm “day and night” with a close friend or co-worker. Write each verse out in a journal or on a flash card, and pull it out at lunch or on your way to work. To help with this, we have created a set of beautiful flashcards, a phone lock-screen, and a weekly blog to encourage you on the journey. Six verses in six weeks. Will you accept the six week challenge?
