Grateful

As 2021 comes to a close, we can’t help but celebrate the Lord’s faithfulness with gratitude. Through changes, we have come together to care for each other, transform our city, and spread the good news of the gospel. There is much to be thankful for and much to look forward to.

Church, we are grateful for you.

We give thanks for

50 Sundays of fully operational in-person church services. After a long season of communicating through screens, what a gift it has been to shift back to gathering together in person. It’s been good to see you, church.

5,280 people participated weekly in midweek ministries like re:generation, Gather, and The Porch. Sunday services were livestreamed 85,000 times over 2021, and watermark.org saw nearly 1 million users. 350,000 listeners accessed Watermark podcasts.

Watermark Kids Volunteers. 1042 Members stepped up to serve in Watermark Kids this year. As a result, 4,489 kids were taught about Jesus. In Kaleidoscope, 80 leaders served weekly to create an inclusive and caring environment for families of kids with special needs.

Community shepherds, who have tirelessly poured into 1,109 community groups over the last year. 185 new community groups launched in 2021.

I’m grateful for the privilege of serving with such a gifted staff team and for the many ways our body cares for one another and serves our city.

Watermark Health’s Mobile Clinic launched this year serving 930 patients in some of DFW’s hardest to reach areas.

Watermark Health was also able to purchase a new sonogram machine at the Skillman clinic, opening the door to connect expecting mothers with medical and pastoral care early in pregnancy.

10,823 patients were welcomed into Watermark’s Urgent Care Clinics this year.

Financial Catalyst from Watermark’s Community Development Corporation. $285,000 of matched funds were provided to historically under-resourced communities this year to purchase lifechanging assets like a home or post-secondary education. More than 100 people in this financial literacy and empowerment program are currently working toward their financial goals.

Watermark’s Deaf Ministry relaunched this year, offering American Sign Language interpretation during Sunday services, The Porch, and Membership classes.

Watermark en Español hosts 125 Spanish-speaking Members each week thanks to a volunteer team supporting production, Frontlines, Kids Ministry, worship, prayer, and teaching teams.

Awaken, a conference two years in the making. After rescheduling twice during 2020, 2,500+ young adults from 49 states (we’ll see you next time, Vermont) came to the Dallas campus for an unforgettable time of worship and new friendships. Hundreds of attendees surrendered their life to Christ throughout the weekend alongside 400 volunteers.

In April of this year, 260 visiting churches with 1,450 leaders from around the nation came to Watermark to be strengthened and encouraged in ministry at the Church Leaders Conference.

170+ volunteers served more than 850 women in Women’s Bible Study this year, including 200 participants joining in at home and in workplace groups. More than 1,100 men participated in Summit, Watermark’s Bible study for men, including 330 men from other churches or without church homes.

Phase 1 of construction is complete and the South Dallas campus opened its doors to the community on June 20, 2021.

  • We are grateful for God’s generous provision of $7.5 million to restore the historic structure and build a 320-seat multi-purpose room, 11 classrooms, and a courtyard area.
  • Financial Catalyst and the Job Connection Program are now operating out of the new classrooms, serving 20+ active participants weekly.
  • The multi-purpose room serves as a weekly place of worship and gathering for 70+ community members who now call Watermark South Dallas their church home.

Watermark Rockwall currently serves 200 adults and 75 kids every Sunday afternoon.

  • Membership has doubled in 2021 with 20 active community groups and 100 people currently pursuing joining Watermark Rockwall.
  • Each month, the church intentionally spreads out all over the city in homes and parks to encourage one another and engage their neighbors and friends with worship and God’s Word.

In partnership with Centennial Church, Watermark Frisco launched as Onward Community Church to serve the Frisco community on September 12, 2021.

Watermark Plano launched as CityBridge Community Church on January 1, 2021, to serve the Plano community as an independent, local church.
