Meet Avery

I grew up in the Dallas area with my younger sister and brother. I found myself struggling with anxiety and wanting control. I accepted Christ as my Lord and Saviour at a Christian camp where soon after He began to show me that I can have peace with Him (Isaiah 41:10).
In middle school, my mom was in an accident that was marked as a fatality. God used her pain and 2% odds of survival to display His power, sovereignty and grace to everyone involved. This life event is where I first consistently noticed God helping me and providing me with all that I needed (Philippians 4:19-20). He showed me what it looked like to live in peace and trust that He is in control.
While anxiety and control are still characters in my life, they now only exist in tension of choosing to trust God’s plan and sovereignty over my limited perspective (Proverbs 3:5-6). He often helps me be still when I am outside with my loved ones (preferably in the mountains), hiking, biking, and running, noticing God’s fingerprints wherever we go.
I also enjoy drawing and painting symbolic stories to build bridges, providing more ways for less reached groups to come to know God and challenge them to trust Him in the middle of their unknown.
While I was not expecting to be called into a ministry in a church building, God has been revealing to me how I can meet children where they are and be like a bridge to guide them into relationship with Jesus.
