Operation Christmas Child

This Christmas, Watermark is partnering with Operation Christmas Child to share the hope of Jesus through simple, gift-filled shoeboxes that open doors to lasting impact around the world.

What is Operation Christmas Child?

Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, partners with local churches to deliver gift-filled shoeboxes and the hope of the gospel to children in need around the world. Each box is an opportunity for kids to hear about Jesus, and about 50% begin The Greatest Journey, a 12-week discipleship course where they learn to follow and share him. What starts with simple gifts can spark lasting life transformation through Christ.

How To Pack a Shoebox

1. Pick Up a Shoebox

Empty shoeboxes are available at Watermark in the Kids Building or Town Center. You can also use your own shoebox-sized cardboard or plastic box. If you wrap your box, be sure to wrap the lid and base separately.

2. Select a Category

Decide if your shoebox is for a boy or a girl and select an age category: 2–4, 5–9, or 10–14. Labels are available when you pick up an empty box and when you drop off a finished box.

3. Pack the Box

Fill your shoebox with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items a child would be excited to receive. Be sure to include one larger “wow” item—like a stuffed animal or a soccer ball with a pump. Also, consider adding a personal note, photo, or Scripture. Download the PDF if you need gift suggestions.

4. Pray

Before you close the lid, take a moment to pray for the child who will receive it. Pray for the child and their family to know Christ, for the strength of their local church and pastor, and for their community to be transformed by the gospel.

5. Give $10 Online

Each box requires a $10 donation to cover shipping and ministry materials. This allows the shoebox to be delivered safely and for children to receive discipleship resources in their own language. You can give through Samaritan’s Purse online or use the QR code available when you drop off your shoebox.

6. Drop Off Your Box

Return your finished shoebox to Watermark on Sundays (November 9, 16, or 23) in the Town Center or outside the first-floor entrance of the Kids Building. We’ll make sure it’s sent to a local collection center and delivered to children around the world.
