Story Behind the Song

There is nothing we can say, nothing we can do, that will measure up to the sacrifice that Jesus made for us on the cross. Even if we were able to live the most seemingly perfect, obedient life, it wouldn’t be enough to forgive us our transgressions or match His love for us. Our only response to this love is to simply receive it as a gift, and in turn, to live a life marked by gratefulness.

May the truth in this song spur each of us on to be joyful always, to pray continually, and to give thanks in all circumstances, as 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 commands. May the greatest sacrifice mankind has ever seen, displayed on the cross of Christ, beckon our hearts to be grateful.
