OPENER

If you were a king/queen, what is the first thing you would do with your power?

READ

Read 1 Samuel 9:2, 9:21, 10:22.

DISCUSS

  1. Read 1 Samuel 9:2. How is Saul described as king? Read 1 Samuel 10:22, how does Saul respond to being king?

  2. What do you think it means to be a leader? Do you think you are a leader? Why or why not?

  3. What is an insecurity you feel in your life? How can respond to that insecurity with truth? (Leaders, this is a great question to be vulnerable with students)

READ

Read 1 Samuel 12:14, 12:24.

DISCUSS

  1. What does it mean to fear God?

  2. Being a leader means to be on mission for God. How can you be on mission for God In your life?

  3. One leadership lesson is to never compromise what's right. Where do you feel like it is the hardest to do the right thing in your life? (school, sports, friend groups?)

  4. What is something you are not very good at? How can use your weakness for God?

  5. How can you step up as a leader today? What is one thing you can do this week?

We are exploring the lives of the three kings of Israel, Saul, David, and Solomon. We will study their Leadership, decisions they made, and how they handled being the leader of God's people. From their lives, we can gather leadership lessons that will be helpful to live purposeful lives for God.
