OPENER

What do you think about or feel when you read the Bible? Does it feel like a task or something you are just supposed to do?

What is the point of reading your Bible? (Drive towards relationship, not works/ discipline)

Discuss

  1. Why is it hard to follow rules or boundaries? How do you do at listening to your parents when they give you rules or boundaries?

  2. Why do we often think we know what is best for us? Do you think you know what is best for yourself all the time?

  3. If we only did things that we wanted to do or received everything we ever wanted do you think that would that bring you more or less joy?

  4. Why is it important to understand that we follow someone who laid down their life for us? (Jesus had nothing to gain and everything to lose by dying for us, this display of humility and leadership is why we should trust and follow Him)

About 'More to the Story'

Sometimes when we read the parables of Jesus they can be confusing or seem irrelevant to our lives. In this series we will look at the why behind the stories that Jesus told and how we can apply these principles to our lives today.
