Some time early on in marriage, my wife Laura began keeping an iPhone Note of verses, quotes, songs, and sayings about suffering – adding to it as often as she found something. She wasn’t facing any particular suffering at the time, but the LORD has made clear in His Word that suffering is to be expected. I believe the LORD was preparing her for breast cancer, and I’m sure more that will come in this life. When cancer hit, after more than a decade of collecting and ingesting Truth about suffering, she was ready and would frequently say, “No matter what happens, Jesus is Lord."
