My True Savior

My True Savior Hero Image

Today is Promotion Sunday at Watermark, a day we celebrate as kids and students move up a class or grade level. As we begin a new school year, we invite you to join us in praying for the next generation—that they would trust Jesus, grow in their faith, and become men and women who abide in Jesus and make disciples, while enjoying life together.

Catherine Plummer is a 7-year-old at Watermark who was recently baptized on a Sunday. Her story is a joyful reminder that God is at work in every generation. He's drawing people to himself and transforming lives, even the youngest in our church!

As you read our conversation with Catherine, think about the kids and students God has placed in your life. Whether you're a parent, grandparent, sibling, mentor, or friend, consider how you can encourage them to know and follow Jesus this year.

Hi, Catherine! We interviewed your mom earlier in the summer during Every Generation July, and then a few weeks after, you got baptized in the pond at Watermark. Will you share your testimony with our church?

I put my faith in the Lord when I was six years old. I wanted to be a follower of him so I could help him repair the world. I know I need him and that he is my true Savior. I knew he could turn my life around like he turned the world upside down with love and goodness. Jesus died on the cross gladly bearing our sins, and when we put our trust in him, we aren't separated from God anymore. Then we are like holy ground, with sprouts and good fruit growing up out of us. He has done that for me, and I was baptized to share that with everyone.

Why is it important to share the good news with people who don’t know Jesus?

So, they can be saved and go to Heaven with Jesus. I like that he is fixing the world and making things new, and he invites us to help him.

Do you have a favorite Bible story?

The one where one house is built on rocks, and the other house is built on sand. It shows what happens if you don’t believe in Jesus.

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” – Matthew 7:24-27

Do you have a favorite Bible verse that you’ve memorized?

Psalm 23, “The Lord is my shepherd.” I like that one a lot.

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” – Psalm 23

What are you looking forward to this year in Watermark Kids?

I’m excited to get back to my class and to do my memory verses in class again. I like doing the Bible timeline, it’s really fun. I think it’s amazing because you can figure out the different eras of the Bible.

Invest in the Next Generation and Serve Families

One of the best ways to help the next generation is by serving! Every week, volunteers and leaders help create spaces where kids and students can be known, feel safe, hear the gospel, build community, and grow in their faith while their families attend Sunday services or midweek ministries like Re:generation, Re|Engage, and more.

Whether you’re welcoming families, leading a small group, or serving behind the scenes, you can make a lasting impact. We’re always looking for faithful servants to join us on Sundays and throughout the week in Watermark Preschool, Kids, and Students.
