New to the Kit or looking for helpful hints on how to use it? Check out the Kids Kit Tips and Tricks - Elementary Edition where we share detailed instructions about the resources below.

Our elementary curriculum builds on the biblical foundation laid for kids in preschool. We want elementary kids to see the excellent character of our all-powerful God and why He is the hero of every story. We do that by looking at 36 godly character traits – one per month – with weekly Finish Lines that teach kids about God, His Word, and how He can help us reflect His character to the world.

Our character trait for July is WISDOM! Check out the Monthly Overview for a snapshot of everything we will be learning about this month.

More ways to have a great week of worship...

Use these activities to keep talking about and applying what you learned this weekend throughout the week.

Teacher: Meal Time

READ GENESIS 45:3-11. How did Joseph respond with the godly wisdom our memory verse, James 3:17, talks about? (He was merciful and forgave his brothers, wanted to be at peace with them, gave them land and told them to come live in Egypt to be saved from the famine.) Talk about ways you can respond to each other as a family (parent/child, siblings, cousins, etc.) with the wisdom God gives us as described in our memory verse.

Friend: Drive Time

When you come to a red light, practice saying the memory verse, James 3:17, using a couple of different games. While you are sitting at the light, see who can say the verse the fastest. Go around the car and choose a different accent, voice, or character to say the memory verse. (Examples: Cowboy, opera, robot, etc.) Have each person say one word of the memory verse and continue going around the car until you have said the entire verse. Have fun with it!

Counselor: Bedtime

Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.” God’s wisdom guides us in all situations. Talk about your life, where you go each week or what you do each day. No matter where you are or who you are with, God can give you wisdom to know how to make choices that honor Him. Pray and ask Him for that wisdom in all the situations you shared.

Coach: Anytime

Create an obstacle course inside or outside your house. You can use whatever you have around to make things to crawl under, climb over, jump over, etc. Using a bandana or scarf, blindfold one person. Designate someone to give directions as the blindfolded individual goes through the obstacle course. Make sure everyone has a turn doing both roles. Talk about how a person would be unable to go through the obstacle course without someone else giving them guidance. In the same way, we cannot go through life without the wisdom that God gives us in all situations.

Prayer

Say a prayer thanking God for guiding us in all sitations. Ask Him to guide you in a current situation you are facing.
