Long Story Short Part 4: Kingdom Era

Have you ever considered the fact that no matter who you are, whether you’re introverted or extroverted, whatever your enneagram is, God wants to use you to lead other? Our world desperately needs and desires leaders, but oftentimes, our idea of what it means to be a successful leader can be misguided, incomplete, or even wrong. Thankfully God’s word gives us a clear picture of what it means to be a successful leader, with many reminders of what happens when we choose our own path.

In this message, we’ll see how to be a truly successful leader.

Message Outline

1. Successful Leaders Follow God before Men
  • 1 Samuel 8:4-9
  • God is the one true King who is perfect in all His ways, and He loves you and wants to lead you.

In what ways have you “made Kings” for yourself instead of choosing to follow God?

2. Successful Leaders aren't Perfect but Follow the One Who is
  • Psalm 51 Context: 2 Samuel 11 (David's sin with Bathsheba)
  • 1 John 1:8-9
  • God does not call us to perfection but to faithfulness. He will use our imperfections to lead others to Himself.

Is there anything in your life that is hindering you from leading with integrity?

3. Successful Leaders don't Half-way Obey
  • 2 Kings 15:4
  • 1 John 5:3
  • God calls us to fully obey Him because He knows we can’t do both. If we half-way obey, we wholly miss out on the abundant life Jesus offers.

Is there anything you’re hesitant to give up before going all-in with following Jesus?

Long Story Short: Jesus led a perfect life, died our death, and rose again so that we could lead others to Him

About 'Long Story Short'

The Bible is one cohesive story written over the course of 1500 years, by 40 different authors recording the history of God’s unwavering extension of His love to humans who immediately chose to go their own way when given the choice. The Bible isnt just a history book or a self-help novel. It is a record of God’s love being made known and available to humanity. Long Story Short is an effort to give teenagers a general handle on the expanse of biblical history with a special focus on events & people that are foundational for an accurate Christian worldview. We hope that students walk away from this summer series with a greater hunger to dive into God’s word, learn more about God’s love for them, and live their lives in light of the love they have experienced.
