Is Jesus Really the Only Way?

Really?

Really?? Everyone has questions when it comes to knowing and understanding our faith and the difference that it makes in our lives. In this two part series, we are tackling two fundamental questions that every Christian must have the answer to: Am I really a Christian? and Is Christianity really the only way? The goal of this series is to help students understand what it really means to be a follower of Jesus and how they can know that Christianity is really the only way despite the continual message from our culture that truth is relative and that "all roads lead to Heaven".

  1. Who was at Wake this weekend and wants to recap what we talked about?

  2. What is different about Christianity than every other religion?
-Every other religion says that we must in some way work our way to God. Christianity says that we could never earn our way to God, so God came and saved us, offering us the free gift of eternal life through His Son. (Rom. 5:8, Eph. 2:8-9, Titus 3:5)

  3. Read Jesus' words in John 14:6. What is Jesus claiming about Himself in this verse?
-He is THE way, THE truth, and THE life. He is not a way or one of the ways, but THE way.

  4. Some people would say that Christianity is "exclusive". How would you respond to that?
-Read John 14:1-5, 1 Timothy 2:4 and 2 Peter 3:9. Jesus desires that ALL be saved. The offer of Christianity it to ALL people.

  5. The second thing we talked about was the problem that Jesus solves. What problem does all of mankind have?
-SIN which has separated us from God.

  6. Read Ephesians 2:3 and Romans 6:23. What do our sins deserve?
-On our own, our sins are deserving of death and God's wrath.

  7. Read 1 Peter 3:18, Galatians 3:13-14, and 2 Corinthians 5:21. How did Jesus solve our problem in a way that nothing or no one else could?
-Jesus was PERFECT because He was the Son of God, and He is the only sacrifice that could cover ALL of our sins. He took the death and wrath we deserved upon Himself so that we could be reconciled to God.

  8. Why do you think that Jesus would make this sacrifice on YOUR behalf?
-Hint: Read John 3:16. He loves you. Spend some time to consider the depth of that.

  9. Read Mark 8:29. How would you respond to Jesus' question, "But who do you say I am?"
