1 Timothy 5 is a call for believers to live our lives generously loving and supporting our church family, biological families, and church leadership. Paul challenges Timothy, the early church and believers today to ask: "Am I generous in how I love and treat my biological family and my church family?" "I am generous to the weak and defenseless, especially widows?" "Am I generous in honoring and thanking the pastors and elders who lead my church?"
