Since we started in Genesis last August, kids in Starting Blocks have been hearing the teaching truths, “God had a plan to rescue the world from sin,” and “God always keeps His promises.”They heard them again this week with the additional truth that, “Jesus will come again and make all things new.” Take a few minutes to let those truths sink into your heart. As I do, it makes me want to shout Revelation 22:20, “Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!”

HIGHLIGHTS from the Weekend…

This week your child learned that John, while a prisoner on the Island of Patmos, was visited by Jesus. Jesus instructed John to write down all that he was about to see and hear. Jesus revealed His glory and all about the eternal home He has prepared for those who love and follow Him. (Revelation 1, 4, 5, 19, 20, 21)

Teaching Truth:

  1. Jesus will come again and make all things new.
  2. God had a plan to rescue the world from sin.
  3. God always keeps His promises.

Memory Verse

"Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His love endures forever."

Psalm 107:1

3 Activities that Help Us Learn This Week's Teaching Truths:

1. Our House

Sit down with your child and go through magazines or catalogs that have fun furniture or things for a house. As your child chooses what he likes, help him cut out the items. On a sheet of construction paper draw a large simple outline of a house. Have your child glue or tape the items into his house. Along the outline of the house, help your child glue sequins or glittery jewels. Talk with your child about what our forever home will be like in heaven (better than anything we can think or imagine).

2. Praise Tambourine

Using a paper plate, ribbons and small jingle bells, make a tambourine. Help your child punch holes around the lip of the plate wherever he wants. Tie a ribbon and a small jingle bell to each of the holes. Let your child decorate the plate with stickers, crayons or jewels. Have you child shake the tambourine and shout one teaching truths from this lesson or sing the memory verse of Psalm 107:1 to the tune of Happy Birthday.Using a paper plate, ribbons and small jingle bells, make a tambourine. 3. Listen, Talk and Draw

Jesus wanted John to listen as He talked about God’s plan and for John to write down what he heard. Have your child practice putting his finger to his mouth to be quiet and cupping his hand around his ear to listen. If your child is able, grab some paper and crayons and have him draw a main part(s) of the story. Begin telling the story of what Jesus told John. Several times throughout the story, stop and have your child put his finger to his mouth to be quiet, cup his hand around his ear to listen and again, if able, draw a main part of the story just like John wrote down all the Jesus told him.

Pray

Thank God for teaching us His truth this week. Pray for Him to help us as we seek to trust Him all the more. ask Him to help you in this and thank Him for having a plan that He will fulfill.
