Two weeks into the new school year and we are off to a fast and furious start! The last Sunday in August we saw our highest attendance in Watermark Kids EVER with over 1900 children worshiping and learning with us! There’s no question that exciting times are ahead & we’re glad that your family is a part of it. Here’s what you can be looking for this month in our K-5th grade ministries.
September’s Godly Character Trait
Every parent longs to see their child demonstrating good manners, polite greetings, and gracious consideration of others. But when it comes to the Bible’s definition of RESPECT, is this all that God intended or is there more to the story? The month of September gives us 5 Sundays to unpack together what RESPECT is, who deserves it and why and how we show it. Most importantly, it gives us a chance to see how the Almighty God of the universe humbly honors those created in His image & calls us to do the same. Jump in with your child in memorizing this month’s definition and memory verse to grow as a family in the way you honor God, others and yourselves.
RESPECT: Honoring what God says is true about Himself, others and you.
Memory Verse: “Show respect for everyone. Love your Christian brothers and sisters. Fear God. Show respect for the king.” 1 Peter 2:17 (NLT)
Hero Sunday
One of the things we love to do from time to time with our K-5th graders is to introduce them to some of the heroes of the faith of more recent history. This Labor Day Sunday, we take a look at the life of Eric Liddell, a man made famous in the movie Chariots of Fire, but whose life was about much more than just an Olympic gold medal. Do some research with your kids before Sunday and see how this Olympic star turned missionary to China demonstrated respect for God and the people he served.
Open House: You’re Invited
Ever wondered what exactly it is we do with your kids each week? Well here’s your chance to find out! We are excited to invite you to join us for a little sampling of what we do every Sunday. On Sunday, September 8th, we’re asking you to join us for a brief 15 minute peek into your child’s world with us in Watermark Kids. Pick up your child after their class at 9:00, 11:15 or 5:30 and then join us in the assembly area of their ministry for worship, a short skit and information about this month’s family challenge! You don’t want to miss this! (for K-5th grade ministries only)
There’s so much great stuff happening this month and we’re excited to partner together with you in teaching, shepherding and discipling your kids. Encourage your kids to invite a friend or 10 and join us as we unpack more of the treasures of wisdom and knowledge that are hidden in Jesus Christ!
