Elementary Kit for May 31

Elementary Kit for May 31 Hero Image Elementary Kit for May 31 Hero Image

Our elementary curriculum builds on the biblical foundation laid for kids in preschool. We want elementary kids to see the excellent character of our all-powerful God and why He is the hero of every story. We do that by looking at 36 godly character traits – one per month – with weekly Finish Lines that teach kids about God, His Word, and how He can help us reflect His character to the world. Our character trait for May is HUMILITY!

More ways to have a great week of worship...

Use these activities to keep talking about and applying what you learned this weekend throughout the week.

Teacher: Meal Time

Pull up the We Believe Truths page and review the three questions and answers for FUTURE together. Start by asking a question and see if anyone can give you the answer. Then play Jeopardy style, give them the answer, and see who can tell you the question. Give bonus points if someone can remember any part of the verses that go along with each of the questions and answers. Remind your kids that although we do not know when Jesus is coming back, we can trust that He will. Why? Because Jesus promised us He would in John 14:3 and He always keeps His promises.

Friend: Drive Time

One of the key verses for We Believe is John 3:16. Try memorizing it by breaking it up into smaller chunks. Try snapping or clapping in between phrases to make it sound like a rap and to make it memorable. For example, “For God…clap, clap…so loved…snap, snap…the world…clap, clap…etc.” Perform it as a car, or have each person perform their own rendition.

Counselor: Bedtime

Jesus promises that when He comes back, all people who have been saved through faith will be with God forever. As we learned in our teaching, many people will not choose to follow God and be part of the new heaven and the new earth. This is why part of our job, as believers, is to share the Good News of Jesus to all those around us. Take time to pray for people to come to know Jesus as their Savior. This could be a specific person you know or people in general. Grownups, pray over your kids that they would also have faith and make the decision to follow Christ.

Coach: Anytime

Though we do not know exactly what the new heaven and new earth will look like, we do know that God will be there! Ask your kids to draw a picture of what they think heaven will look like. Have them share with everyone and explain what they drew. Then, read Revelation 21:1-4, 22-27 and have your kids draw another picture and see if anything changes from what they initially drew. Talk about how the greatest part of the new heaven and the new earth is that everyone who has been saved through faith in Jesus will be with God forever.

Prayer

Thank God that we can have hope for the future because of what Jesus has done. Thank God for always keeping His promises, for being victorious over the enemy, and for having a perfect plan for the future.
