New to the Kit or looking for helpful hints on how to use it? Check out the Kids Kit Tips and Tricks - Elementary Edition where we share detailed instructions about the resources below.

Our elementary curriculum builds on the biblical foundation laid for kids in preschool. We want elementary kids to see the excellent character of our all-powerful God and why He is the hero of every story. We do that by looking at 36 godly character traits – one per month – with weekly Finish Lines that teach kids about God, His Word, and how He can help us reflect His character to the world.

Our character trait for August is SERVICE! Check out the Monthly Overview for a snapshot of everything we will be learning about this month.

More ways to have a great week of worship...

Use these activities to keep talking about and applying what you learned this weekend throughout the week.

Teacher: Meal Time

Read Matthew 6:1-4 and talk through the following questions as a family. What is Jesus telling us to do in these verses? When we make sure people know how we are serving, who is getting all the attention and glory? (Us) Who SHOULD be getting the glory? (God) How can you know if you are serving with the right heart? (You can ask yourself questions like: “Will I be okay if no one notices what I did?” or “How is what I’m doing honoring to God and not myself?” or “Why do I want to serve in this way?”)

Friend: Drive Time

There are tons of ways we can serve others, whether it’s in your own home, across the street, or across town! Check out ways you can serve in your neighborhood or how to serve the city on our External Focus website. Choose one and go for it!

Counselor: Bedtime

Thank God for the people who are examples of godly servants in your life and how they have served you. Ask Him to help you have the right heart when you are serving others. Thank Him for being the reason we serve because He deserves all the glory and honor.

Coach: Anytime

Choose a fun way to learn the memory verse together as a family. You could write it with wipe off markers on your bathroom mirror. Practice “popcorn style,” where each family member says one word until the entire verse is completed. Make up your own hand motions to help you remember the words. Write it on an index card and keep it in the car so you can practice even while you are on the go.

Prayer

Say a prayer thanking the Lord for people who have been great examples of godly servants in your life. Ask Him to help you find opportunities to serve the people near you with the right heart this week.
