Summary

This week, Todd continued to take us through Acts. He reminded us—through the example of Paul in the end of Acts 14—to strengthen each other, encourage each other to continue in our faith, remind each other there will be tribulations, and encourage each other to be under the authority of local elders. In Acts 15, we see the first church council, and how Jesus plus anything else is not the gospel.

Discussion Questions

  1. Pick one of the four things Paul encourages the early church with—strengthen others, encourage others in the faith, reminder others of tribulations, encourage others to submit to local church leadership—that you can spend time living out this next week. Share with your community group which one you pick and how/who you will share it with.
  2. Scripture calls us to encourage one another lest we become hardened by sin or become discouraged (Hebrews 3:13). Take time at your next group meeting encouraging each other with stories of how you see God at work in each other's lives.
  3. “If you preach Jesus plus anything you are an enemy of the gospel. Galatians 1:6-9. It's not faith plus works; it is faith alone. Anyone who adds anything to the gospel is an enemy of the cross.” In what areas of your life are you prone to add to the gospel? Share this with your community group and then memorize Ephesians 2:8-9 to remind yourself of the truth that we are saved by grace through faith, not our works.
