Meet Edna

I’m a first-generation Mexican American who grew up in Corsicana, Texas. I’m the oldest of four siblings. I first came to know of Jesus at a summer camp in Dallas, Texas when I was 11 years old. As an 11-year-old, truth be told, I wasn’t looking for Jesus, I simply wanted to be away from home during the summer. This first encounter with Jesus led me to return to Corsicana and start actively serving in my church. After high school, I moved to Dallas for college and stayed here after graduating. My community of friends ended up moving back home and I was left alone in a city where I isolated myself and was burned out from work. I knew I needed to find community which is how I ended up at Watermark Community Church in 2018. My relationship with Jesus changed when I decided to open my life to others. This involved being transparent and truthful about my struggles with my community group and dedicating myself to serve in an external ministry such as OurCalling, a discipleship program for the homeless. I’m incredibly grateful that God has given me an opportunity to serve His Body here at Watermark Community Church. When I’m not at work, you can find me either hanging out with friends or at the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge sitting back and enjoying the Dallas skyline.
