Selena Shanahan

Students Assistant

Meet Selena

I was born in Paris, Texas but as a family we split our time between my parents’ hometown in Manitoba, Canada (it’s in the middle) and our home in Texas.

Growing up in a Christian home with Christian parents going to a Christian school I became apathetic to the gospel. In middle school, I started to doubt if I was really saved or if I just knew of God because of the environment that I was raised in. This started a cycle of me fearing God and constantly praying for my salvation. Going into high school I became exhausted of this burden and asked God for confidence in my salvation. I now know that these thoughts were coming from me feeling the need to be perfect before coming to Christ. A verse I hold on to is Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God; not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” I know that I am saved not because of myself but because of God’s grace for me.

In 2020, I married my husband, Luke, and we moved to Dallas. I was introduced to Watermark by Luke. I now get to serve with the Students Team as we teach the next generation about Jesus.

When I am not at work, you can find me at LDU Coffee or playing with our golden retriever!
