I’ve called Dallas home my whole life, but also have a special place in my heart for Waco, TX (sic ‘em bears)! Although I was raised going to church, I never understood what it looked like to have a relationship with Christ until I first attended Watermark in high school. It was here that I learned what it meant to accept God’s grace and live out my faith as I witnessed the authenticity, love and grace of God’s people.
As I headed off to college, I surrendered my life to the Lord. Yet, I did not experience the full life God had for me during these few years without being rooted in a church community. I spent my time in college striving for man’s approval and struggling to follow God through my own strength, only when it was convenient for me.
Upon graduating from Baylor in 2018, I got plugged into the Church for the first time. God transformed my life at Watermark as I began to get equipped in my faith (2 Timothy 3:16-17), study the Word (Joshua 1:8), and find community among other believers (1 John 1:9 and Hebrews 10:24-25). Throughout this period, the Lord changed my heart from wanting to live a selfish, materialistic lifestyle to developing a deep desire of using my gifts to serve the Church (Romans 12:1). My heart now is to share with other young adults the purposeful life of true freedom that I have found in Christ (Galatians 2:20). Everyday I am in awe of God’s goodness in how he has changed my life and where he has brought me to. May the Lord continue to do the same for others across Dallas, Waco and the rest of the world!
