I grew up in San Antonio, Texas (Go Spurs!) and that’s where I heard the Gospel at a young age and by faith I received Christ as my Savior. However, it wasn’t until my days at SMU that I noticed my life looked nothing like a Christ-follower…and even though I would “check the box” that I was a Christian, Jesus was really just someone I acknowledged on Sunday. After drifting into the party scene and a self-centered life, I remember one morning confessing and repenting before God right there in my fraternity house…and at the same time sensing His amazing grace washing over me.
By God’s grace, a friend invited me to a campus ministry (Cru) at SMU…and that’s where I began to grow in my relationship with Christ and understand what it meant to become a fully devoted follower of His. I joined my first Men’s Community Group and my life changed as we studied the Scriptures, applied them to our lives, and lived in a fun and authentic biblical community. Through a gradual process, Jesus had become not just Lord of my Sunday, but now Lord of my life! (Galatians 2:20).
After undergrad, I worked in banking and consulting for 13-years in Chicago and after seeing God move in my colleague’s lives during my time in corporate America, I sensed the Lord placing a call on my heart to give my life to ministry full time. With joy, I had the opportunity to serve as a pastor in Chicago and study at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, before the Lord called me back to Texas.
Today, I’m pumped to be on the Community Team here at Watermark, because I’ve personally experienced the power of a transformed life through my own Community Groups! It’s my great hope and desire to equip, support, and encourage our Leaders and Coaches in creating those same kinds of relationships where the Holy Spirit can bring about spiritual transformation.
I love spending time with my wife, daughter, and gathering friends for long dinners (preferably over good Bbq or Mexican food). I enjoy a good comedy (think Will Farrell) …and watching my beloved Spurs and (struggling) Cowboys!
