Frequently Asked Questions

Our mission in Watermark Kids is to partner with parents to train up the next generation of fully devoted followers of Christ. We believe it is one of the most crucial jobs of the church to encourage, equip, and empower families as they train their children up in the way they should (Proverbs 22:6). There are a variety of ways that we partner with families in this mission. One of which is our Kids Kit, which enables and equips families at home to teach the next generation about the story of God and His rescue plan through Jesus.

Another way we partner with families is through Sunday morning gatherings where we provide a safe, fun environment for children to build a solid foundation of faith through activities, music, and storytelling. We take the health and safety of your child in Starting Blocks very seriously. In light of COVID-19, we wanted to share some decisions and changes we are making, so you can make educated decisions about your child’s return to kids ministry. We are committed to taking all reasonable measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 while shepherding your child’s heart during their time with us. Things are changing quickly, sometimes daily, but here are the current answers to questions you might have right now.

Will there be any changes to the kiosk check-in process?

Yes. Our check-in kiosks will be manned by kids ministry volunteers to create a touchless check-in process for families.

Can our whole family go together to drop off our children in Starting Blocks?

We are asking that only one adult attend the child during drop-off to reduce crowding in our hallways.

Will my child’s teacher wear a mask?

Watermark Frisco leadership is requiring volunteers in the kids ministry area to NOT wear masks. There has been much discussion around this topic. The three primary reasons that led us to this decision are:

Safety - COVID-19 is one of the many risks we are trying to mitigate on a Sunday morning. At the high school specifically, there are a lot of access points/hallways to our kids. We need to be able to easily identify anyone at any time working with or around kids, and masks make that challenging.

Least affected - Kids are the least impacted by COVID-19. There is reason/ability to treat rooms full of kids differently than rooms of adults.

Consistency - We find it best to have every volunteer with kids to operate under the same guidelines. We do not want some wearing masks and others not wearing masks. This would breed confusion between parents as well as unmanageable complexity trying to field parent requests for their kids to be in “mask-wearing rooms”. On Sundays you will see kids ministry volunteers wearing masks in the hallways.

Will my child be interacting with other children in multiple classrooms while they are in Starting Blocks?

At this time, children will remain mostly in their classrooms during the service. They will not be traveling to story time or to participate in large room activities. We are asking that parents take their children to the restroom prior to check-in, but children will be taken to the restroom during the service if needed.

Will my child be eating snacks during their time in kid’s ministry?

With the exception of our infants that need to drink a bottle during their time with us, we will not be providing Goldfish or having special snacks. Please make sure your child has eaten before dropping them off in their classroom.

Will the Dash be available?

Yes. Dash (kinder-5th grade) is open and is still being held in the cafeteria. Please enter the cafeteria through the doors in the courtyard. A check-in kiosk is available in the cafeteria.

Can my child wear a mask?

Yes. Children are free to wear masks while checked in their room if you want them to; however, know that we will not be able to ensure that the mask stays on.

What can I do to help?
  • Thank you for asking! If any member of your household has been ill within 48 hours prior to attending church (including vomiting, diarrhea, discolored mucus, cough, or a temperature greater than 100), please keep your child at home. This also applies if anyone in your household has been exposed to COVID-19 in the past two weeks. Also, make sure they eat a good breakfast (no snacks), take them to the bathroom before service, use a pull-up if they are potty training, and wash their hands before dropping them off.
  • Be patient with us. Check-in will take a little longer as we assess the health of each child before entering the classroom.
  • You can serve with us! Not all of our volunteers are comfortable yet serving in a classroom with children. To best serve those families who are ready to drop off their children, we need additional volunteers. Click here for more information about serving with us.
