Can you think of something that’s been transformed? Maybe caterpillars that transform into butterflies, or that pan of batter you put in the oven that transforms into brownies? This weekend, we saw how God took the saddest, most painful story in the Bible and transformed it to the best news we could ever hope for! And because of the good news of Jesus’ death and resurrection, we can be transformed, too. When God gives us the faith to believe in Him, He transforms us from dead to alive, from lost to found. That’s definitely worth celebrating and sharing with others!
MEMORY VERSE: “A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart." LUKE 6:45 (NLT)__
“Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead!” (Luke 24:5-6 NLT). Jesus had told His followers that He would be betrayed and crucified. He had told them He would rise again. Yet, the angels’ words in Luke 24:5-6 took them by surprise. Soon they would remember, and soon Jesus Himself would appear to His disciples and open their eyes to all that had been prophesied about Him (Luke 24:44-46). God always keeps His promises, and because He kept His promise that Jesus would be resurrected, God made a way for us to have a relationship with Him!

The good news of our good God isn’t just for us on Easter…it’s for everyone, every day of the year! Practice sharing the gospel with each other as a family. If you don’t know where to start, start here! Read each verse and ask the question that goes with it. (If your child has the Cross Talk tract they got at church this weekend, feel free to follow along there!)
God Loves You!: Read John 3:16. What do you learn about God from this verse?
Our Problem: Read Romans 3:23. What is sin? What are some sins you’ve done?
Our Punishment: Read Romans 6:23. What punishment do we deserve because of our sin?
God’s Answer: Read Romans 5:8. Why is this such Good News?
Your Choice: Read Romans 10:9 and Ephesians 2:8-9. What’s the only way we can be saved and have a relationship with God?
Talk about a friend at school who may not know the good news that God loves them and sent His Son Jesus to die for their sins. Pray together for this friend and for courage to be used by God to tell them the good news.
Ask your child(ren) to tell you The Tale of the Three Trees that they heard at church this weekend (or watch it here). After the story, talk about the different ways the trees were used. How was it different and even better than what they’d hoped for? Ask them how they hope God will use them when they believe in the good news of Easter.
Read Luke 24:1-12 and make “resurrection rolls” as a family. You can find the recipe and instructions here. While you’re waiting for them to bake, talk with your kids about why it’s so exciting that Jesus came back to life again and the difference He has personally made in your life.
Thank God for who He is, how He defeated death and the hope you now can have in Him. Ask Him to help you live your life in a way that reflects His goodness to the people you are around.
Next week we will continue the month of April with the godly character trait, GOODNESS. We will learn that our goodness is an overflow of God's goodness to us.
