It’s BACK!!! Just a few more weeks, and summer break will make it’s long awaited return! What could be better than that? How about the return of Significant Summer!?!?!?! That’s right, after a successful inaugural year in 2014, Watermark Kids is ready once again to challenge AND empower your family to make the most of your summer moments so that they have eternal impact! What is Significant Summer and why should your family participate? We’re glad you asked!
The Mission
Significant Summer exists for the purpose of challenging and empowering you to make disciples in and through your home this summer! As parents, we get 18 summers with our kids before they leave our home and our hope is that every family at Watermark makes the most of those opportunities for things that will last forever. We believe parents can make simple but intentional plans to develop as a family in four key areas: Rest, Serve, Grow, and Play (R.S.G.P.).
The Plan
Once again, we have developed a Significant Summer Family Book to help serve as a guide for this mission. This is not intended to be a step-by-step instruction manual. Instead, we have provided you a few ideas in each of the four key areas, and then we encourage you to be creative with what works for your family. The book includes simple definitions and memory verses for Rest, Serve, Grow and Play.
The Race is On!
Significant Summer is about more than just individual families living out this mission. It is about a community of families challenging and encouraging one another in our mission to make disciples this summer. This year’s theme is “The Remarkable Race” and adds a fun competitive element to help build community around where you live. The map below tells you what team your family is on, based on what campus you attend and where you live in the Metroplex.
Once you know what team you’re on, you’ll want to join the Red, Blue, Green, Yellow or Purple Facebook group. Every Monday at noon, we will post a challenge for the week on that group and assign points to the teams based on that community’s participation. We’ll also have some “Roadblock” challenges that will pop up occasionally throughout the summer! The Remarkable Race will officially kick off on Memorial Day Monday and the final challenge will be issued on Labor Day; 16 challenges in all!

Living For The Unseen
2 Corinthians 4:18 says, “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” This summer we want to challenge you to make investments in your family that will bear fruit for eternity. There is much out there to distract, amuse or discourage us over these next few months. Our prayer is that this might be the most significant summer of your lives!
