New to the Kit or looking for helpful hints on how to use it? Check out the Kids Kit Tips and Tricks - Preschool Edition where we share detailed instructions about the resources below.
Our goal for preschool curriculum is to build a foundation of biblical knowledge so preschoolers will know the major stories of the Bible and how they fit together into God’s big story. Our curriculum is organized into 12 units and we teach the major stories of the Bible in mostly chronological order. Each week there is a Teaching Truth which is the most important thing we want kids to hear and learn about God and His Story that week.
Use these activities to keep talking about and applying what you learned this weekend throughout the week.
SUPPLIES: Blue and brown construction paper, scissors, glue, crayons or markers, small action figures (or clothespins or pipe-cleaners)
Take a piece of blue construction paper and fold it into thirds. Cut a piece of brown construction paper into thirds. Glue one of the thirds to the middle of the blue paper. Using a blue crayon or marker, draw wavy lines on the two outer thirds of blue paper to make it look like waves. Fold the blue paper inward so that it covers the brown. Find small action figures or create people and animals out of clothespins or pipe-cleaners that your child can use to reenact the story. Have the people walk out of Egypt toward the Red Sea (blue paper). When they approach the blue paper, let your child pretend to be Moses and raise his staff so the sea will part. Open the blue paper to expose the brown land and have the people walk across it. After your child has retold the story, talk about how God protected His people and how He also protects us. Talk about the story using these questions.
SUPPLIES: Plastic baggie, hair gel, blue food coloring, packing tape
Make the Red Sea in a baggie. Fill the baggie about one-thirds full of hair gel and then add blue food coloring. Use clear packing tape to double seal the top of the baggie. Let your child mix the hair gel and the food coloring together by carefully squishing the baggie. Then help your child retell the story of God parting the Red Sea by parting the goo in the baggie.
SUPPLIES: None
Have a family movie night and watch “The Prince of Egypt” together. Grab pillows and blankets, pop some popcorn, and enjoy time together watching God’s Word unfold though animation. (Note: Some scenes in this movie might be disturbing to younger or sensitive kids. Parents might want to preview it first.)
