Our goal for preschool curriculum is to build a foundation of biblical knowledge so preschoolers will know the major stories of the Bible and how they fit together into God’s big story. Our curriculum is organized into 12 units and we teach the major stories of the Bible in mostly chronological order. Each week there is a Teaching Truth which is the most important thing we want kids to hear and learn about God and His Story that week.

More ways to have a great week of worship...
Use these activities to keep talking about and applying what you learned this weekend throughout the week.
1. Walls of Jericho Snack
SUPPLIES: Graham crackers, peanut butter or icing, gummy bears, goldfish, or teddy grahams
Help your child recreate the walls of Jericho with 4 large graham crackers and some peanut butter or icing. Just spread a little peanut butter/icing on the shorter edges of the graham crackers so that when you stand the graham crackers on their long edges forming a square, the peanut butter/icing will help the “walls” stick together. (You could also use saltines and squeeze cheese.) Use teddy grahams, goldfish, or gummy bears to represent the Israelites who march around Jericho. Let your child re-enact the story... and then enjoy the spoils!
As your child eats his snack, talk to him about the story using these questions.
- When Joshua first told the Israelites what God wanted them to do, what do you think they thought? (Maybe they thought it was a great idea. Maybe they thought it was silly. We don’t know.)
- Did the Israelites obey God and do what He said? (Yes!)
- Who made the walls of Jericho come down? (God did! It was a miracle, something wonderful only God could do.)
- Does God want us to obey only when it makes sense to us or does He want us to obey Him no matter what? (No matter what)
2. Trumpet Time
SUPPLIES: Empty paper towel roll, markers, stickers, something to build “Jericho” out of like blocks, pillows, or books
Make a trumpet using an empty toilet paper or paper towel roll. You could also roll up a piece of paper and tape it together to form the trumpet. Let your child decorate his trumpet with stickers or by coloring it. Build the city of Jericho using whatever your child can find. Tell him to pretend he is in Joshua’s army. He can march around the “city” just holding his trumpet six times in a row, but taking a break after each one. The 7th time (representing the 7th day), he will walk around the city seven times blowing his trumpet. After the 7th time, shout and knock down the city of Jericho.
3. Jericho Walk
SUPPLIES: None
Take your child outside for a walk around your house (or another big building) and discuss the story of Joshua and how the people of Israel listened and obeyed God by walking around the walls of Jericho every day for seven days. When you finish recounting the story, stop walking and have your child look at your house/the building with you. Help your child really think about this story by asking questions like:
- Does it seem like something big like this house would fall down just by us walking around it and shouting?
- Who do you think made the walls of Jericho come down? (God did. It was a miracle, something wonderful only God can do.)
- God loves us so much and knows everything. Do you think God’s way is the best way even if we don’t understand? (Absolutely!)
- Does God only want us to obey if it makes sense to us or is easy? (No.) Does He want us to obey Him no matter what? (Yes!)
