New to the Kit or looking for helpful hints on how to use it? Check out the Kids Kit Tips and Tricks - Elementary Edition where we share detailed instructions about the resources below.

Our elementary curriculum builds on the biblical foundation laid for kids in preschool. We want elementary kids to see the excellent character of our all-powerful God and why He is the hero of every story. We do that by looking at 36 godly character traits – one per month – with weekly Finish Lines that teach kids about God, His Word, and how He can help us reflect His character to the world.

Our character trait for July is WISDOM! Check out the Monthly Overview for a snapshot of everything we will be learning about this month.

More ways to have a great week of worship...

Use these activities to keep talking about and applying what you learned this weekend throughout the week.

Teacher: Meal Time

Print off a copy of Proverbs 2:1-8. Circle all the action words in the first four verses. What does it say seeking wisdom is like? Have you ever searched for wisdom like this? Now, put a box around the verbs that describe what God does in verses five through eight. What do you learn about God in these verses? Talk about ways you and your family can search for wisdom from God this week.

Friend: Drive Time

Play “Spot the Lie.” All around us, there are ads, commercials, stores, and more that are trying to convince us that wisdom comes from anywhere other than God. As you are out and about this week, see who can be the first to spot something that tells the lie “Wisdom is found here” instead of from God. Talk about why those things are lies and see if anyone can remember a verse from God’s Word that tells the truth. Examples: college you pass on the road (lie = wisdom comes from teachers/education alone), billboard advertising medical treatment (lie = wisdom comes from doctors), healthy food advertisement (lie = wisdom comes from being healthy), cruise ship billboard/Six Flags ad (lie = wisdom comes from your experiences), etc.

Counselor: Bedtime

Read Proverbs 3:5-6. Pray and thank God for being the source of all wisdom and understanding. Thank Him for not having to rely on yourself for wisdom. Ask Him to help you trust Him when you are tempted to lean on your understanding instead of His.

Coach: Anytime

Proverbs 2:4 tells us to search for wisdom as we would for silver or hidden treasure. To demonstrate this, hide some “treasure” in your house or outside. Create a treasure map for your kids to use to find the treasure. Explain that all wisdom comes from God and that He gives us His wisdom through the Bible. Reading God’s Word and studying the Scriptures is just as important and can be just as fun as finding treasure.

Prayer

Pray and thank God for providing all of our wisdom and understanding. Ask Him to help you trust in His wisdom during times of difficulty.
