Meet Martha Kate
I grew up in Plano, TX and had the privilege of being raised in a God-fearing home. By God’s kindness and my parent’s faithfulness, my family has been a primary source of community for me. My parents have been a part of Watermark since the beginning, so I have had the grace of calling Watermark my home church from an early age. My parent’s faithfulness to pursue the Lord served is an inspiring example for me and my siblings. While I trusted in God’s saving grace at six years old and had the privilege of being shepherded by godly leaders, it was in my freshman year of college that I began experiencing freedom in Christ. God used Celebrate Recovery and a handful of godly women to help me grow and recover from childhood hurts and patterns.
I attended Blinn College for two years and graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Leadership and a double minor in Business and Communication. The summer after my senior year, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, ushering in a season of unique dependence and trust in God’s sovereign plan. As I received treatment, I worked in Training Ground, Watermark’s Midweek Children’s Ministry, once a week. In January of 2016 I moved to Branson, Missouri to complete half of the Kanakuk Institute, a discipleship opportunity that equips men and women with biblical council.
After graduating, I moved back to Dallas for further discipleship through the Watermark Institute, where I again served in Training Ground. After a year of growth and impeccable teaching, I was confirmed to be cancer free and offered a fulltime position as Watermark’s Midweek Elementary Coordinator.
I love being a part of what God is doing to raise up the next generation of fully devoted followers of Christ. I am humbled to be a child who grew up at Watermark and now give back to the ministry that helped raise me.
