Meet Karen

I grew up with a loving family who shared the good news of Jesus with me. I came to know Christ at the young age of 6, and while I am certain I was saved, I am also certain I had no idea what walking with the Lord really meant! I wrestled with trying to do the "right thing" and being a "good person" so the scales would be sure to tip my way. My senior year of high school this plan entirely fell apart. Finding my worth and fulfillment in anything but the Lord, I ended up in the hospital from overdrinking, this experience was both terrifying and life altering. In the season that followed, my parents intensely discipled me and for the first time. I realized that faith was about a relationship with the Lord, not outward behavior. I did not have to earn God's love because He had already freely given it to me (Ephesians 2:4-5). I did not have to seek His approval but, because of Jesus's sacrifice on the cross, He looked at me and saw the righteousness of His Son (2 Corinthians 5:21). After understanding this, truth at the very heart of the gospel, everything changed.

I went to TCU for nursing school and during my last year I realized I was being called into ministry. Quickly after graduating, I joined Watermark and began attending Dallas Theological Seminary. There, my passion for equipping women in the church grew. After finishing my degree, I jumped into the Fellowship Program through the Watermark Institute. This program gave me a better understanding and love for the story of Scripture and invaluable ministry experience I probably couldn’t find anywhere else.

I am the youngest of three kids and was born and raised in Dallas, TX. I love good cups of coffee, water skiing on the lake, and rainy days were I can read for hours on end. The Lord is so good to allow me to equip not only the women in our body but churches beyond. I cannot thank Him enough for choosing me to be a part of His mission in this way!
