Dustin Flueckiger

Married Community Director

Meet Dustin

My name is Dustin Flueckiger. Yep, that’s right. The key is that it’s pronounced with an “ueckiger.” To be honest, I’m not even 100% on that. Easy enough, eh?

I grew up in the Midwest on the Illinois/Wisconsin border. I missed the Gospel entirely from my youth, even though we attended church for most of it. So naturally, I sought purpose and meaning in the ways the world says a man should: athletic ability, chasing women, money, and power. I desperately wanted to feel that I was enough or approved. While these empty pursuits seemed fun at the time, I was left broken.

While in college at DePaul University, I met a woman named Kallie. She was different and had an understanding of who she was. She seemingly had that illusive stamp of approval that I desperately sought. After moving to Dallas from Chicago, I began to attend the Porch. At that time the gap between my sinfulness and Jesus’ perfection became visible to me. I was bankrupt and Jesus had everything I needed. He always had. I put my faith in Christ alone by grace alone for the provision for my sins. In return, He gave me a new identity (Col 3:3, 2 Cor 5:17, Gal 2:20, 1 Pet 2:9). Praise Jesus!

Remember the Kallie I mentioned before? Well, I am fortunate to be married to THAT Kallie. She helps me bear the burden of pronouncing our last name, among countless other things. We have three kiddos named Rose, Isla, Jude, and Elle (Fun fact, they were born in three different states!). We are so excited to be able to teach our kids how important a name can be. While the name Flueckiger comes from someone who used to patch and repair shoes or fabric, we are overjoyed that we get to pray/shape/mold these little ones to long for being “patched and repaired” into the family of God (John 1:12).

Over the years, I have carried many different titles for work: Account Executive, Waiter, Manager, Stock-Boy, Pond Scraper, Construction, Laborer, Retail Associate, Go Cart Flag Waver, Bouncer, Bartender, Registered Nurse, Salesman, and Mover. My favorite was NOT Go Cart Flag Waver. Those kids were punks, but so was I.

I began to be called into full time vocational ministry when I felt a burden to equip and encourage Christians to be the hope of the world, especially in the local church. My role here is on the Married Community Team, where I get to do just that!
