Steps:
Shelter from the Storm, a sexual abuse support group, meets privately for 15-18 weeks; throughout our time together we cover:
- The effects of abuse
- Letting go of the past, letting go of shame and guilt
- Recapturing trust and hope
- Feeling the anger and hurt
- Healing loneliness and fear
- The blessings of God's healing word
The wounds are layered throughout your life like rings in a redwood tree. The depth of the hurt seems unfathomable.
You may never have told your story; but in a safe and caring group, you will be heard, cared for and supported. Group leaders (facilitators) are women who have experienced the painful affects of sexual abuse themselves. But there is hope in Christ and His cross.
"I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them." - Isaiah 42:16
"I said, Oh, that I had the wings of an dove! I would fly away and be at rest- I would flee far away… I would hurry to my place of shelter, far from the tempest and storm" – Psalm 55:6-8
"I will give you the treasures of darkness And hidden wealth of secret places, So that you may know that it is I, The Lord, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name." - Isaiah 45:3
