If You Were Mine: A Workshop for Those Exploring Adoption (FALL 2010 CLASS)
Have you ever thought about adopting? Tapestry, Watermark’s Adoption & Foster Care Ministry, will be hosting an interactive 6-week study called If You Were Mine for those interested in exploring whether adoption is right for their family.
This study will provide informed insight on many topics, including God's heart for orphans, basic decisions, agencies, funding, paperwork, home studies and finalization. Additionally, each week there will be a panel of those have "been there done that" representing various aspect of adoption. We will hear from families who have adopted after having biological kids, those who have adopted out of infertility, those who have adopted domestically, internationally, through the foster system & we'll finish by getting the perspective of some adult adoptees.
All of this is aimed at helping you or someone you know, understand the next steps to take and discern whether God is calling you to give a child a forever family through adoption.
The study will be on Thursday nights from September 16 – October 21 (6:30 – 8:30 p.m.). Material will be presented through teaching, video, Q&A & weekly panel discussions. Childcare is available. A workbook is required for this study which can be purchased for $10. We don't want finances to be a barrier that keeps anyone from attending so please contact us if you need assistance.

Girl's Night Out (1st Thursday of each month)
Calling all moms, moms-to-be & women considering adoption/foster care. Leave the kids at home and head to Natalie Fournet's house at 7:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month. Girl's night out is a special time to share, laugh, encourage and unplug. If you have any questions or would like more information contact the Tapestry ministry team.

Waiting Families Group (3rd Thursday of each month)
This small group is open to anyone who is in the adoption or foster care waiting process - as well as those who are just "thinking about" adoption or foster care. Our Waiting Family group meets on the third Thursday of each month at the home of Beau & Natalie Fournet. The group starts at 7:30 pm and coffee and dessert is served. texas Wait No More Conference
Focus on the Family is partnering with Texas CPS and Adoption Agencies to really focus the efforts of the Christian community on finding Adoptive Families for kids in the custody of the state of Texas. There are more than 6,000 kids who are waiting for families—it’s a mind-blowing number.
On November 13, 2010, Focus on the Family is hosting Wait No More at Watermark Community Church in Dallas. They are going to be making a major media push in the DFW area to encourage Believers to attend this event to learn more about the need, and how they can help. Past events have drawn almost 1,500 people to hear the message—and they reduced the number of children waiting for adoptive homes in Colorado by HALF. They are expecting that the Texas event could be the largest they’ve ever had.
