Throughout my early childhood, my family moved around a lot because my dad was in the Air Force. My family landed in DFW when I was 11 and we have been here ever since. For college, I moved west to Abilene to attend Hardin-Simmons University. I am passionate about working with kids, so I immediately began pursuing a degree in education to become a teacher. After graduating, I came back east to Fort Worth and worked as an elementary teacher for 5 years and absolutely loved it!
I heard about God as a child but my understanding was that I could earn God’s love by being a good person. I believed by doing the right things and being the right kind of person, that I would end up in heaven. I was harsh and judgmental of others and I held myself to an unattainable standard of perfection. I did everything I could to keep people from seeing my sin and struggles. At 23, God showed me I was wrong and I could not hide anymore. He placed women in my life who knew me at my lowest and loved me despite my shortcomings. They taught me that I have been saved by grace and that it is a gift from God, through the death and resurrection of Jesus, not because of anything I have done.
Those who know me best will tell you I enjoy spending time hanging with my husband, watching Disney movies, going for long runs, making tasty baked goods, and drinking a good cup of coffee. I am thrilled and so grateful to be part of the Fort Worth team and I am so excited to be part of God’s work here!
