Melissa Miller

Women’s Institute Director

Meet Melissa

My favorite things in life are cooking and entertaining friends and family, all things arty: museums, symphony, opera, laughing and hangin’ with my work ‘family’, and teaching women about most anything from God’s Truth. In addition, I have a golden retriever named Atticus who is a wild man, but, makes up for it by being so cute. Because my father was Iranian, I was named after an Iranian Princess named Soraya and so, will answer to princess on occasion.

I became a believer when I was eight years old, not because of a Sunday school teacher, or anyone else I can point to, rather I just remember walking up to my pastor and telling him I needed to have Jesus in my heart “RIGHT NOW,” and would he please tell me how to do that? The next fourteen years were not marked by walking with Jesus however, as I was not taught what it meant to have a relationshipwith Him.

When I was twenty-two years old, I made a radical decision to give up my wild ways and “give God a shot.” That was the beginning of a passionate pursuit of being a part of what God is doing in the lives of His people. Over the next ten years, I was discipled by some incredibly godly women at my church in Denton, Texas who instilled in me a vision of multiplication through discipling other women to disciple other women and so on.

I have never really recovered from the idea that God wanted me to be with Him, that He is redeeming my past mistakes, and most of all that He would give me the privilege of helping others, specifically women (of all ages) experience that same redemption.
