|If you’re “that” person who believes a holy and righteous God could never use “you,” keep reading. Before experiencing a life-changing encounter with Jesus, I spent the first 35 years of my life (primarily in Dallas) separated from the God who loves me. Vain behavior and empty pursuits best describe those years. My desire to find life in fleeting things (drugs, anabolic steroids, parties, and sinful relationships) eventually brought addiction, loss, pain, and divorce. In the midst of a “life or death” crisis (January, 1997), Christ intervened on my life and began His good work of redemption and restoration. |
The first Bible verse I ever memorized was 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” To this day, I stand in awe of the glorious gospel of Christ and its power to bring what is spiritually dead to life.
I grew in discipleship at a local church in Garland, TX. I was mentored as a student at Criswell College in Dallas where I majored in Biblical Studies/Pastoral Ministry. I may very well be Criswell’s biggest, all-time library nerd! Before joining the staff at Watermark in January of 2013 as Director of Single Adults, I spent 13 years on staff with RightNow Ministries, a ministry dedicated to resourcing the church, as well as bolstering leadership development within the church.
In 2004, I married a gorgeous, creative Oklahoma girl named Anita. In addition to loving Jesus, my wife shares my passion for all things Oklahoma Sooners (this is huge)! I’m the proud father of two daughters, Anastasia and Natali (both adults), and one stepdaughter, Codi (who’s quickly becoming an adult). We enjoy watching movies, occasional weekend getaways, and eating out together. And yes, we think Chili’s still rocks! When/if time allows you may see me somewhere around Dallas swimming, cycling, or running. When I grow up, I want to be a triathlete.
