For as long as I can remember I have known about Jesus. It wasn’t until my sophomore year of high school that God opened my eyes to see that Jesus is more precious than anything else and worth giving my whole life to. 1 John 4:16 says, “So we have come to know and believe the love God has for us,” and for reasons I’ll never understand, and certainly never deserve, that is what happened for me at age 16. Every year since then has been marked by further grace, as God has sustained me in faith and allowed me to know Him more deeply.
When I graduated from college at the University of Arkansas, I had some big dreams for my life. I was convinced that the ministry God had for me was in a job outside of the local Church. As you can tell, that is not how things panned out! I’m continually grateful that God chooses what is best for us even when we don’t have the ability to discern that for ourselves.
I love talking about the work God has for us on the External Focus team. Hebrews 13:12-16 talks about following Jesus by running away from comfort and towards need, and that’s what we get to do on the daily. We get to engage our city in a variety of ways and invite others to see God’s supernatural hand at work outside the building we gather in.
I show up to work excited to see what God is going to do through his people and desperate for Him to supply us with the power, love and grace to see His work through. This is living, people!
