Baptisms at Watermark

People who have found new life through a personal relationship with Christ have the opportunity to take the next step of obedience by being baptized.

By being baptized with water, a believer publicly identifies with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. Baptism is also a concrete way for believers to demonstrate their obedience to Jesus’ command and profess faith in Him publicly. We believe that baptism is not essential for salvation, but an important first step of obedience.

If you believe you are ready to be baptized, can you say yes to the following questions?

  • Do you believe that you are a sinner separated from God? (Romans 3:23)
  • Do you believe that your sins deserve punishment and that the punishment for your sin is death? (Romans 6:23)
  • Do you believe that there is nothing you can do to earn salvation? (Ephesians 2:8-9)
  • Do you believe that God loved you so much that He sent His Son to the cross for you and there took your punishment? (John 3:16; Romans 5:8)
  • Have you put your trust in Christ? (Romans 10:9-10)
  • With all your heart, do you intend to walk with Christ all of your life? (Colossians 1:10)

Although parents who are believers may choose to publicly dedicate their infant children to the Lord, we believe that people should not be baptized until they can personally articulate their faith and the purpose of baptism.
