On May 14, 2014, we asked those in attendance at our baptism celebrations to share their images from the day on Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #WatermarkBaptism2014, and the response was great! In fact, at one point in the day #WatermarkChurch2014 trended on Twitter. (If you don’t know what that means, ask a teenager!)
We had the privilege of seeing close to 400 people take part in baptism. The reason we asked folks to share their images is 1.) we enjoy seeing the view from other people’s lenses, and 2.) each of those people represent a story of life change. A story of grace and redemption. A story of celebration and boasting. Yes, boasting. As the Apostle Paul says in Gal 6:14, “…far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ..” And so it’s appropriate for us to boast in the life changing work of Jesus Christ.
As our pastor often says, “Our ultimate goal should be for Jesus Christ to trend in our life every day.” Above, you’ll find a video that was created with the photos that were shared using the hashtag.
We encourage you to check out the video, look through the pictures, and pray for those who were baptized, that the Lord would continue to do “greater things” in and through them.
If you want to know why you should want to celebrate your new life in Christ be sure to check out Baptism: Why You Should, Why You Shouldn’t, And What It’s For. If you’re a believer and have never been baptized, you don’t have to wait until our baptism celebration to do it; you can be baptized anytime! Be sure to talk to your community group about it, or give us a call. It would be our joy to discuss the next steps with you.
