Lauren Murray
I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, where I grew up in the church. Although I had a fear of God, I did not know Jesus Christ personally. One evening, the Gospel was clearly presented as our youth leader explained that our faith is about a personal relationship with Christ. For the first time I heard what I had been missing. I went home that evening and ask Jesus Christ into my heart to be my personal Lord and Savior. I began to read my Bible and grow in my knowledge of the Lord. In high school, our family switched to Watermark and its biblical teaching immensely helped me to grow in my walk with the Lord.
I went off to the University of Oklahoma (Boomer Sooner!) for college. After graduating, I spent some time at a law firm, behind the counter at Starbucks and eventually began working at a school in Irving as the office manager.
During this time I got involved in The Porch and began serving on Sidewalk our pastoral care team. I absolutely fell in love with the ministry as I prayed for and encouraged young adult women each week. As my passion for the ministry continued to grow I began to pray that someday I could work for a young adults ministry. The summer of 2010, I went on a Watermark discipleship trip to Ethiopia and upon my return I was going to go to the Kanakuk Institute to be trained and discipled in hopes of working for a young adults ministry afterward. However, when I got back I was contacted to interview for a young adults position at Watermark! I prayed and sought counsel about taking this position and felt the Lord was telling me to stay and work here. It has been such a blessing to work here where I am daily trained and discipled by our staff.
