Jeff Ward
I was born in Tyler, Texas but grew up in Oklahoma. We were a musical family…think Partridge Family…and learned to play the piano and drums early on. I was blessed with godly parents and trusted Christ when I was 5 years old.
I attended Oklahoma State University, spent a year in Kyoto, Japan and attended law school at the University of Oklahoma. I married my childhood sweetheart and best friend, Kristie, and we have two amazing boys, Hayden and Hunter. They keep us learning and laughing!
I spent the next fourteen years practicing law, chasing the "American Dream," and just adding church to it. Through God's patient pursuit, I learned that the Christian walk was primarily all about the "do's" and not the "don'ts." When I compared my life with God’s Word and the things that he tells us He cares about, I realized that my life did not reflect what I professed to be my first love (which I am still learning and growing!). Over time, God helped me to re-connect with the gospel, re-align my priorities, and respond…including with my vocation. In 2008, I joined the staff at Watermark as the Director of External Focus and am having the time of my life watching God work in this city and around the world through his people.
I love all kinds of music, reading, camping, and participating in whatever my boys are into at that moment (right now, it’s ping pong!). People make fun of my emergency food storage area in my desk, which currently boasts an array of sardines, Hormel tamales, Chef Boyardee Ravioli, Pork and Beans, and peanut butter crackers. Hey, you never know what you might be in the mood for!
